Job summary

100 LCMC Health is seeking a Child Life Specialist responsible for providing patient care services for infants, toddlers, and children. You'll promote emotional well-being and ensure family-centered care while facilitating social interactions through play.

The ideal candidate will have completed a Child Life Internship and ideally possess two years of experience in pediatric healthcare. Preferred certifications include CPR and Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS).

Qualifications

• Eligibility to become CPR certified, CPI trained, and Trach trained.
• Preferred: Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS).
• Two years’ clinical experience in a pediatric healthcare setting.

Essential Functions

The Child Life Specialist is responsible for providing patient care services for infants, toddlers, school‑age children, adolescents and their families. They foster emotional well‑being, provide cognitive and developmental opportunities, promote family‑centered care, and support social interaction through play. They orient hospital staff to the psychosocial needs of children and their families and foster positive community relations.

Experience & Qualifications

• Completion of Child Life Internship and eligibility to sit for a Certification Exam.
• Preferred: Two years’ clinical experience in a pediatric healthcare setting.

Licenses & Certifications

• Preferred: Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) per the Certifying Commission and Association for Child Life Professionals guidelines.

Special Skills & Training

• Eligibility to become CPR certified, CPI trained, and Trach trained.
• Preferred: CPR certification.
