LCMC Health is seeking a Child Life Specialist in New Orleans to provide care for infants, toddlers, and adolescents. This position focuses on fostering emotional wellbeing and developmental opportunities for young patients and their families through family-centered care and play experiences.
Qualified applicants must have completed a Child Life Internship and be eligible to sit for the Certification Exam. Preferred qualifications include prior clinical experience in a pediatric setting and CPR certification.
The Child Life Specialist is responsible for providing patient care services for infants, toddlers, school‑age children, adolescents and their families. Fosters emotional wellbeing and cognitive developmental opportunities for young patients and their families, promotes family‑centered care that reduces stress, helps with coping, provides activities to normalize and encourage social interaction, supports developmental integrity through play experiences by creating a safe environment, and orients hospital staff to the psychosocial needs of children and families while fostering positive hospital community relations.
