Job summary

Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN seeks a Child Life Assistant to provide developmentally appropriate activities for pediatric patients in playrooms or at the bedside. You will support families, coordinate volunteers, and help deliver care aligned with infection control and department policies.

Responsibilities include planning activities based on patient diagnosis, documenting interventions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to promote coping and emotional support

Qualifications

• Assist in management of playrooms and activity rooms according to departmental policies.
• Document participation in child life activities according to policy.
• Maintain supplies for playroom and Child Life Development; support infection control.
• Organize bedside activities and coordinate volunteers under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provides developmentally appropriate activities for individuals and groups in playrooms or at bedside.
• Plans activities based on diagnosis, diet, activity level, coping styles and social supports.
• Coordinate tours and invitations for elective surgery patients when needed.
• Trains and schedules volunteers for tours; maintains tour materials and supplies.
• Maintains playrooms and follows safety guidelines; documents Child Life services.
