Job summary

The Salvation Army Sallie House Childrens Shelter in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a part-time Childcare Assistant to provide weekend supervision for adolescents, with Saturday-Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM ET.

Responsibilities include planning activities, maintaining records, and collaborating with Leads/Case Managers to support learners, while ensuring safety, hygiene, and positive behavior management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED as required.
• Two years’ childcare experience, with teens preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Implements age-appropriate activity and development plans utilizing discovery areas and hands-on activities.

Job Details: Job Location: FLA-St Petersburg AC Sallie House Childrens Shelter - St Petersburg, FL 33701, Position Type: Part Time less than 20, Salary Range: $16.70 Hourly, Job Shift: Weekend , Job Category: Child Care, Schedule/Hours: Regular Part-Time at 16 hours/week, Saturday-Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM ET

This position is responsible for:

Providing childcare services for adolescents including personal care, hygiene, learning, developmental activities, and specialized programs. Plans, develops activities; prepares and maintains records; meets with Leads/Case Managers to discuss progress of children. Utilizes positive parenting practices in dealing with negative behaviors of children. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of property.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
• Implements age-appropriate activity and development plans utilizing discovery areas and hands-on activities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal childcare environment where there may be changes in weather and discomforts associated with outdoor activities at playgrounds, parks, beaches, and pools.

What we are looking for in you: Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.AND
• Two years’ Childcare experience (experience with teens preferred) with knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development,OR
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid State Driver's License and driving record approved by Territorial Headquarters Risk Management.
• Must possess valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
