Job summary

The Kettle Moraine YMCA Inc. invites applications for a Part-time Child Care Teacher in Port Washington, WI. Under the supervision of the Childcare Director, you will implement daily activities within Early Childhood Education programs for the YMCA.

You will assist in curriculum delivery, maintain a safe environment, help with meals, and foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff while upholding the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years old.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• Educational qualifications per DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
• Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
• Must complete and pass fingerprint check.
• Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to interact with children at their cognitive level.

Responsibilities

• Follows DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers and YMCA policies.
• Assists teachers in carrying out the daily curriculum.
• Reports concerns to the staff member in charge.
• Maintains a safe, orderly environment, including housekeeping duties.
• Assists in meal/snack preparation.
• Interacts with children at their cognitive level and provides supervision.
• Consults with staff before delivering information to parents.
• Builds positive relationships with members, participants, volunteers and staff.
• Models YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Adheres to Code of Conduct and Child Abuse Prevention policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Childcare Director, the Teacher or Assistant Teacher is responsible for implementing the daily activities in the Early Childhood Education programs for the Kettle Moraine YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Follows the DCF Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers, the YMCA Child Care Policies and the Orientation packet.
2. Assists teachers in carrying out the daily curriculum.
3. Reports any concerns to the staff member in charge.
4. Maintains a safe, orderly environment, which includes housekeeping duties.
5. Assists in meal/snack preparation.
6. Interacts with children at their cognitive level and provides supervision for a safe environment.
7. Before talking to parents about any problems, consults with a staff person in charge for proper delivery to parents.
8. Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
9. Acts as a positive role model using the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
10. Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire.
• Must complete and pass fingerprint check.
• Must complete a Health Physical and TB test within 30 days of hire.
• The ability to appropriately interact with children at their cognitive level.
