Summary of Job Duties:

We are looking for a Child Care Teacher I/II/III to work at the Head Start/Early Head Start program. The Child Care Teacher I/II/III will be responsible for planning and implementing a daily program for the children in the center. The Child Care Teacher I/II/III will also supervise children and ensure their safety at all times.

Qualifications:
Child Care Teacher I:
  • High School Diploma/GED with a (CDA) Child Development Associates credential in infant toddler PLUS one (1) year of early childhood experience.
Child Care Teacher II:
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field or Associates Degree with at least six (6) credit hours in early childhood education PLUS one (1) year of early childhood experience.
Child Care Teacher III:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field with at least six (6) credit hours in early childhood education PLUS one (1) year of experience in early childhood education or related field.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning, both through physical classroom materials and instructional activities.
  • Implements approved goals while utilizing techniques necessary to motivate learning in small children.
  • Regularly assesses instructional materials for the classroom and communicates needs for replacement or repair.
  • Supervises students in all activities inside and outside the classroom, ensuring everything is in place in case of absence.
  • Identifies achievement levels of each student and provides ongoing evaluation of progress.
  • Identifies behavioral concerns requiring involvement of program resource staff.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with parents and staff.
  • Encourages parent involvement to increase literacy skills and classroom participation. Adheres to all program standards and regulations.
  • Participates in school activities and attends faculty meetings as required.
  • Maintains all required documentation.
  • Maintains the child/staff ratio.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
