Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Child Care Teacher, the Child Care Teacher Assistant will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved. The assistant will uphold the mission and values of the Old Colony YMCA and adhere to all regulations and policies. They will demonstrate caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect in all duties.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
• Assist in implementing curriculum in line with standards and policies.
• Support daily activities, classroom setup, and environment.
• Maintain proper behavior of children, adhering to guidance policies.
• Assist with curriculum planning, including menus and standards.
• Understand and maintain QRIS standards.
• Communicate positively with parents, staff, and the community.
• Model positive behavior and maintain records and reports.
• Attend required training and meetings.
• Collaborate with staff and establish relationships with community partners.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Help maximize enrollment and participate in fundraising efforts.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Participate in community activities and committees.
• Attend at least 20 hours of training annually.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 16 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Recent physical exam, negative TB test, and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
• Ability to lift/move heavy equipment, work early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and physical ability to lift children up to 75 lbs.
