The Child Care Teacher is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and developmental growth of young children in a play-based learning environment. This role includes planning and delivering age-appropriate, hands‑on activities, supporting children's social‑emotional development through positive guidance, and maintaining open communication with families. The educator also assists with daily caregiving routines, monitors developmental progress, ensures compliance with licensing and center policies, and collaborates with colleagues to create a nurturing, inclusive classroom community.

  • Always actively supervise and ensure the safety and well‑being of children.
  • Develop and implement age‑appropriate play‑based lesson plans that include hands‑on learning engagements and foster development.
  • Implement positive behavioral guidance techniques to foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that supports children's emotional and social growth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Assist children with all caregiving needs, including meals, naps, and hygiene needs.
  • Observe and assess children's development, documenting progress and identifying any areas of concern.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive educational setting.
  • Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies regarding health, safety, and education standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; CDA, associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.

  • Must meet all health and safety requirements, including:
    • Passing a pre‑employment and/or periodic physical exam
    • TB screening
    • Background check and renewals as required

  • Must be able to walk at a fast pace and engage in physically active play for extended periods of time.
  • Lead groups of children in brisk 10-minute walks at least once daily per the daily schedule/lesson plan.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to frequently to twist, turn, kneel, bend and stoop and get down on the floor with the children multiple times per day.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities with children.
  • Must be able to actively monitor children’s safety in all activities.
