City of Santa Fe Springs, Walnut, CA, is seeking a Child Care Site Supervisor to lead before/after-school programs for TK-8 students. The role requires planning daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring safety and developmental supports in a collaborative district setting.
The position emphasizes staff development, program quality, and coordination with site staff and families to sustain a holistic, nurturing environment for children.
Currently, we have one opening for an 8-hour, 12-month employee in the Child Care Department, this is a split shift (6:30AM-9:30AM / 12:00PM-6:00PM), Monday through Friday.
Under the direction and general supervision of the Director of Child Care and Preschool Program or designee, the Child Care Site Supervisor will plan, organize, lead, and participate in the daily operations of before and after-school child care programs for the District’s school-aged elementary and middle school students; develop and implement program objectives; supervise and guide child care staff; adhere to applicable program requirements; maintain program goals by promoting a safe and nurturing environment that supports the developmental, socialemotional, and physical needs of all students; other related work as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities Required:
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and skills may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Two years of paid experience, which includes partial leadership over staff in an organized children’s center, enrichment program, child care program, or comparable child care program
Equivalent to the completion of high school and one of the following:
Persons performing service in this position classification will be expected to perform medium work, which involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work. (Per the Code of Federal Regulations – Section 404.1567 “Physical Exertion Requirements”).

Permanent employees will receive paid holidays, sick leave, vacation and longevity benefits per contract or Commission Rules. The District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits. Employees working less than full-time, but a minimum of four hours will contribute an amount proportionate to the number of assigned work hours for major medical insurance benefits. The District does not offer a package of insurance benefits to employees working less than four hours per day. The District provides life insurance for employees who work a minimum of 3 hours. In addition, the District offers a retirement plan which uses joint employee and employer contributions.

Employees will be charged for processing their fingerprints at the time they are hired. The fingerprints are used to complete a confidential background investigation. Newly hired employees must pass a qualifying Medical examination given by a District-appointed physician, which includes testing for illegal controlled substances.
Newly hired employees must submit a Mantoux Skin screening and certificate of completion within the past 60 days that indicates freedom from active tuberculosis.
An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.
