Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking experienced educators to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. You will plan developmentally appropriate curriculum, observe and support child progress, and collaborate with families in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services.
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and keep trainings up to date.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help kids learn while building self-esteem.
• Implement and plan curriculum ensuring developmentally appropriate learning.
• Record weekly child observations and address behavior concerns with guardians.
• Communicate with parents effectively and confidentially about progress.
• Maintain attendance records, binders, allergy reports, and related paperwork.
• Ensure centers have quality learning materials and organized centers.
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or as needed.
• Campaign for the Annual Campaign and develop donors/volunteers.
• Supervise all staff on site.

What is needed for this job

• Achievement of a degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children's self esteem
• Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensuring child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout classrooms using positive reinforcement for behavioral management
• Conduct and record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians
• Being patient and kind with our parents/guardians, communicating effectively and in a timely manner regarding children's program experience, progress (written as well as verbal) while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity
• Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well as compliant paperwork within timesheets, incident reports, weekly reports, and child observation reports
• Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate learning center
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed
• Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign an work to develop donors and volunteers
• Supervise all staff on site
