Essential Functions

• Oversees the overall operations and management of the Child Care Center.
• Supervises all personnel fairly and consistently.
• Develops and adheres to the approved budget.
• Works daily with the office manager, lead teachers, special programs teacher, school age coordinator, and food service coordinator in the overall management of the Child Care Center.
• Evaluates reporting personnel annually.
• Interacts effectively with internal and external customers, aiming to meet and exceed their expectations.
• Demonstrates adherence to NMHS Mission, Vision, and Values Statement, and to Service Excellence Standards; serves as a role model to staff.
• Ensures regulatory and code compliance (JCAHO, state licensing, OSHA, NAEYC Guidelines).

Communications

• Ensures effective communication throughout the department.
• Strives to meet all internal and external customer needs and expectations.
• Responds politely and appropriately to all customers.
• Communicates with parents honestly and tactfully.
• Ensures staff maintain a safe, happy, and stimulating environment.

Budget

• Approves purchases of educational supplies.
• Manages revenue and expenses within the approved budget.
• Utilizes time wisely; on call 24/7 for emergencies.

Know How

Specify required education, licensure/certification, experience, skills, and other qualifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field; minimum 5 years childcare experience.
• Current MDHS DECCD or OCY Child Care Director’s Credential, or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong organizational, communication, and budget management skills.
• Effective oral communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral instructions.
• Participation in 15 hours of staff development annually.
• English reading and writing skills desirable.
• Knowledge of childhood illnesses and diseases desirable.
