Job summary

The City of Federal Way is seeking a temporary part-time Child Care Attendant to join the Federal Way Community Center. Under the supervision of the Member Services Coordinator, you will help plan, implement and lead daily activities for up to 10 children aged 0-8, ensuring safety and engagement throughout morning and evening shifts, with Saturday mornings required.

You will wear a Parks Department uniform and collaborate with staff to provide a supportive, organized environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Current First Aid, Infant, Child and Adult CPR cards required.
• Experience in planning, implementing and supervising activities for children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and leading daily activities for up to 10 children (ages 0-8).
• Supervise and actively participate with children; serve as a positive role model.
• Work with staff in an enthusiastic, cooperative, and supportive manner.
• Maintain safety of children at all times and render first aid for injuries as needed.
• Clean program areas and store equipment and supplies at day end.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of required reports.
• Attend staff training and other meetings; maintain professional image and attitude.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job description

***NOTE: This is a temporary part-time position working various morning and evening shifts Monday through Friday. Saturday morning shifts will also need to be covered.

Under the direction of the Federal Way Community Center’s Member Services Coordinator, the Child Care Attendant will help plan, implement and lead daily activities for up to 10 children, ages 0-8, making sure that all children are safe, orderly and entertained. As a representative of the Parks Department, a uniform will be provided and must be worn during working hours.

• Enjoy working patiently with children.
• Supervise and actively participate with children and serve as a positive role model for children at all times.
• Work closely with other staff in an enthusiastic, cooperative and supportive manner.
• Demonstrate strong organization and communication skills.
• Maintain safety of children at all times.
• Render first aid in case of minor/major injury.

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of required reports.
• Attend required staff training and other meetings.

Additional Information

The full salary range for this position is $17.13 - $19.00 per hour. The typical starting rate for this position is $17.13 per hour.
