Job summary

Spymca is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher for our licensed Child Care Center. You will work with a Lead Teacher to support children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum and fostering a warm, engaging learning space.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe day care environment, promoting hands-on activities, and building positive relationships with families, while adhering to state licensing and YMCA standards. Flexible hours offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required; 60 days post-hire to obtain if needed.
• Minimum 18 years old and high school diploma or equivalent.
• Pre-employment health exam and fingerprint background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher and support developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Create a warm, engaging, hands-on learning environment.
• Maintain safe, healthy day care setting and follow licensing regulations.
• Promote diversity, self-esteem, creativity and growth through activities.
• Attend staff trainings and supervise volunteers in the classroom.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.
