Job Summary
Job Title: Child Care Assistant. Location: Springfield, Missouri. Department: Recovery Services. Employment Type: Full‑time.
Join our compassionate and collaborative team as a Child Care Assistant, where you will play a vital role in nurturing and supervising children in our care. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families. You will be responsible for implementing structured activities and facilitating developmental advancements, all while ensuring a positive and hazard‑free atmosphere for the children we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with children in a safe and supportive environment.
- Facilitate lesson plans and structured activities as directed by the Childcare Lead Teacher or Childcare Director.
- Prepare meals for children according to the menu schedule.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding their children's daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with child care regulations and agency procedures.
- Conduct daily cleaning chores and maintain a neat classroom environment.
- Report any suspected behavior indicative of abuse to the supervisor immediately.
- Assist in arranging the classroom environment to meet program goals.
- Facilitate emergency drills as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) required.
- Must have the ability to pass a background check (includes fingerprinting) for criminal history, abuse/neglect, and driving record.
- Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
Physical Requirements
- ADA Consideration – Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
