Job summary

Kids After Hours is seeking enthusiastic staff for morning and afternoon shifts in Silver Spring, MD. You will work with school-aged children, lead activities, and help create a safe, fun environment.

Ideal candidates are patient, energetic, and positive role models who can engage children in literacy, arts, sports, and crafts while communicating with parents and supervisors to ensure a smooth program.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience working with children.
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• You must be 16 years old or older.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set-up/clean-up of the room and prepare activities.
• Organize and label equipment, games, and toys.
• Provide hands-on supervision for kids and ensure safety.
• Lead a variety of group activities and crafts.
• Engage with children and model positive behavior.
• Greet parents during drop-off/pick-up and relay information.
• Enforce safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
• Report to the site Director and complete required training.

We offer both organized activities, such as literacy, cultural arts, S.T.E.M., arts and crafts, sports, monthly clubs, cooking, as well as free play options. Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and accountable staff memberthat hasexperience in child care. Our mission wouldn’t be complete without staff that are involved and excited about what they are doing each and every day at Kids After Hours. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving, andpositive role models and mentors to our kids. Staff members get to know children's individual interests and make sure they apply these into our program. Staff members also develop clubs and activities that are based on our children's preferences and interests.

Morning and/or afternoon shifts available: 7-9:30 am and 3-6:30pm Monday through Friday

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with set-up/clean-up of the room, preparing snack, implementing or setting up/cleaning up activities.
• Organize, label, and replace equipment, games, and toys.
• Provide hands-on supervision for kids. This includes playing and being involved while still being sure kids are safe and being watched.
• Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities, whichmay include crafts, nature, songs, games, KidsNight Out, etc.
• Have positive interactions with the children, which can include teaching your favorite games, teaching them to knit or play the guitar, etc.
• KAH Greeters assist parents with drop off and pick up, provide any important information from the day, and answer questions. You will also communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Leadership.
• Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with childcareand all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for children'ssafety and their whereabouts at all times. You will also be responsible forknowingand understanding allemergency procedures associated with the program.
• Responsible for receiving 6 hours of continuing education annually
• Aides will report to the site Director
