Child and Youth Training and Curriculum Specialist

Join to apply for the Child and Youth Training and Curriculum Specialist role at Naval District Washington.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • This position may be a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent may be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing, and must consent to such testing.
  • Must complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, Tier 1 with Child Care check, Tier 3 if applicable, and a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.
  • Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check; any discrepancies must be resolved prior to employment.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization records, and be free of communicable diseases. Appropriate immunizations are required.
  • Ability to sustain walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required training certificates and credentials as per Federal, State, and DoD standards.
  • Federal employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with documentation submitted by the specified deadline.
Qualifications

  • Experience managing developmentally appropriate programs for children and youth.
  • Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and laws concerning child abuse prevention.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards such as NAEYC, COA, NAFCC, and DoD certification standards.
  • Skills in program planning, curriculum development, and conducting training workshops.
  • Ability to provide leadership, respond to emergencies, and communicate effectively in English.
Education

Provide a copy of your high school diploma, GED, or college transcripts when applying. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development require 1 year of relevant experience; those with a 4-year degree require 3 years of experience. Alternative combinations of education and experience are also acceptable, including certificates or credentials such as CDA/MSA.
