Child and Youth Program Food Service Worker

Join to apply for the Child and Youth Program Food Service Worker role at Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR).

The purpose of the Child and Youth Program (CYP) Food Service Worker position is to perform a variety of food preparation and food service tasks for the CYP. This position is located in a Child Development Center (CDC) but may assist with food preparation for the School Age Care (SAC) Program.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in food preparation, including peeling potatoes, washing vegetables and fruits, assembling sandwiches, and measuring ingredients.
  • Stock food service carts with utensils, plates, bowls, food, and beverages for family-style dining.
  • Wrap, arrange, and package items for children and youth.
  • Transport food from kitchen to classrooms or activity areas.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen and food service areas, including dishwashing and equipment cleaning.
  • Store food and supplies properly, label and date items, and unload deliveries.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and security policies and procedures.
  • Comply with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) standards.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must pass background checks, including fingerprint, child care, and criminal history checks.
  • Must pass E-Verify employment verification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and provide immunization evidence.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Ability to complete required training and maintain certifications.
Qualifications

Experience and knowledge in food handling, hygiene, recipe measurement, and sanitation standards. Ability to perform multiple procedures, develop recipes, and communicate effectively in English.

Education

H.S. Diploma or equivalent. Submission of diploma, GED, or transcripts is required when applying.
