Summary

This position is located at Defense Logistics Agency's New Cumberland, PA location with the Child and Youth Services Division.

Child and Youth Services Employee Childcare Fee

Duties
  • Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Actively supervises and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events.
  • Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials.
  • Helps arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals.
  • Identifies and responds to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.
Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • This position has regular contact with children under 18; background checks and favorable adjudication are required under Section 231 of the Crime Control Act of 1990 and DoD Instruction 1402.05.
  • Position is subject to immunization requirements for working with children and youth; includes influenza vaccine.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent physicals, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.
  • For positions in Child Development Centers, must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lb., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Must have visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and respond appropriately.
  • Incumbent must report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • Must complete DoW and Service training requirements, including CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Failure to achieve training may result in separation.
  • May work evenings, weekends, and holidays; duties may involve indoor and outdoor work and occasional field trips.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate for entry level (CY‑01) must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

For higher levels (Skill Level CY‑01, Target Level CY‑02), refer to the Applicant Information Kit. College transcripts or certificates may be required at the time of application for candidates considered for these levels.

Education: At minimum a high school diploma or GED is required. Proof of education is required at the time of application. Education must be directly related to the position.

All education documents must be in English or have a translated copy provided.

  • Within the Local Commuting Area: living within approximately 50 mile radius from New Cumberland, PA. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates within area.

  • Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized.
  • Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and other differentials will not be paid.
