Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services programs.
• Actively supervise and account for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events.
• Assist in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials (group and individual activities).
• Help arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals.
• Identify and respond to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.

Conditions of Employment

• Direct deposit and Social Security Card required.
• Must be at least 18 years old at time of appointment.
• One‑year probationary period may be required.
• Must satisfactorily complete employment verification (E‑Verify).
• This position has regular contact with children under 18; background checks and adherence to Section 231 of the Crime Control Act of 1990 are required.
• Favorably adjudicated background checks are required.
• Position requires compliance with immunization requirements to work with children and youth, including influenza vaccine.
• Must pass a pre‑employment physical and provide evidence of immunizations; be free from communicable diseases.
• For Child Development Center roles, must lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand routinely.
• Must have visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and comply with sight and sound supervision requirements.
• Must report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
• Must complete all Department of Work and Service training requirements, including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training, and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• May work evenings, weekends, and holidays; duties may involve indoor and outdoor work; occasional field trips may be required.

Qualifications

Additional Requirements

• Proof of education (high school diploma, GED, or college transcript if applying for higher levels) must be provided.
• For entry level, a high school diploma and transcripts are required; for higher levels, college transcripts or certificates may be required.

• Open to candidates residing within a 60‑mile radius of Hunter Army Airfield, GA.
• Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.
