Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland seeks a Child and Family Case Worker for the Intensive Family Support Service in Gladstone. The role partners with vulnerable families, delivering in-home support and case management to keep children safe and support meaningful family goals within a 12-month timeframe.

You will engage families, conduct assessments, and develop collaborative plans while coordinating access to specialist services. A relevant degree and experience in case work are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work or related field preferred; diploma with two years’ case worker experience also considered.
• At least two years’ experience in case management and child protection with families.
• Knowledge of domestic and family violence and its impact on children.
• Understanding of First Nations peoples, cultures and communities.
• Current Queensland Working with Children Check or Blue Card.
• Current Queensland driver’s licence.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.

Child and Family Case Worker | Intensive Family Support Service | Gladstone

• Employment Term: Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)
• Location: Gladstone
• Remuneration: $53.43 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team

The Intensive Family Support Service assists vulnerable families with complex needs who are at risk of entering the child protection system. Our voluntary service supports families in their homes, generally through weekly visits for up to 12 months. This enables us to work collaboratively with families to keep children safe and achieve meaningful family goals.

As a Child and Family Case Worker, you will lead case management with families in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, helping them identify and prioritise their concerns.

This Role Involves

• Providing a combination of therapeutic support and practical in-home assistance to vulnerable families with complex needs who may be difficult to engage.
• Actively engaging with families, completing assessments and developing collaborative case plans that prioritise their presenting concerns.
• Supporting families to access appropriate specialist services

What makes a difference for us?

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, human services, psychology or a related discipline is preferred. Applicants with a diploma in a related field and at least two years’ experience working as a Case Worker will also be considered.
• At least two years’ experience in case management and child protection, working directly with families, children and young people with complex needs.
• Current knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence and its impact on children.
• An understanding of First Nations peoples, cultures and communities, including the issues that may affect them.
• A commitment to culturally safe practice.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed practice and child development.
• A current Queensland Working with Children Check, or Blue Card.
• A current open Queensland driver’s licence.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
