Job summary

AltaPointe Health Systems seeks a qualified Recreation Therapist for the Children’s Residential Services Program in Mobile, AL. You will design and deliver recreation therapies for children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral disturbances, under supervision.

Responsibilities include planning activities, facilitating groups, crisis de-escalation, and maintaining records following AltaPointe policies with a focus on ethical care and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; knowledge in child/adolescent and adult specialties to be attained within 6 months.
• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in child/adolescent and adult populations.
• Knowledge of growth and development across ages.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Uses assessment data to design recreation and activity therapies.
• Plans and develops activities to meet rehabilitation needs.
• Facilitates recreation therapy groups.
• Implements planned activities and monitors progress.
• Maintains documentation per AltaPointe policy.
• Collaborates with treatment team and supports crisis de-escalation.
