Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join the 17-bed inpatient behavioral health unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton, WI.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education. This employed role focuses on crisis stabilization and coordination with physicians, with a strong referral base within a nonprofit health system.

Qualifications

• Wisconsin NP and RN licensure before hire date.
• Master's degree in Nursing is required.
• BLS Provider certification preferred; DEA registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient psychiatric care on a 17-bed unit serving adolescents.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including MDs, social work, OT, and education specialists.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, educate, and coordinate referrals; document per standards.
• Support the Partial Hospitalization Program and community referrals.
• Engage in crisis stabilization for suicidal/homicidal ideation and psychosis.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join an employed position within a busy, well-respected practice, supported by a strong referral base and the full resources of a robust health system network.

• Collaborate with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team supported by 24/7 nursing, MD's, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, and Education Specialists
• Provide care on a 17-bed inpatient behavioral health unit serving adolescents (ages 5â18), with an average daily census of 11 patients and typical length of stay of 5â7 days, focused on acute crisis stabilization for conditions including suicidal/homicidal ideation, psychosis, and other safety concerns
• Help support the Partial Hospitalization Program
• Serving a surrounding population of 230,000
• Employed position within a nonprofit health system
• Provide comprehensive patient care in collaboration with physicians, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, educate patients and families, coordinate referrals and community resources, and maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with established standards and policies.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Education

• Master's degree of Nursing required.
