Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital in St. Louis, MO seeks a positive, energetic Support Care Assistant to help children and adolescents with mental illness maximize their potential. The hospital follows the Sanctuary Model to promote healing, safety, and nonviolence.

Responsibilities include basic nursing tasks, facilitating therapeutic interactions, and supporting daily living activities. A background check is required; training is provided. Compensation details are provided upon hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• No experience necessary; paid training provided.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and pass background screening.
• Able to lift 45 lbs; capable of running/jogging 400 yards and pulling 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic non-professional psychiatric and general nursing work.
• Establishes effective interpersonal relationships with residents, coworkers and health care team.
• Contributes to maintaining a therapeutic environment.
• Renders basic nursing care and assists with daily living activities.
• Observes, reports and records changes in physical condition, behavior and emotional status.
• Participates in activities with residents.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
