Job summary

Kinross Round Mountain is seeking a Chief Underground Mining Engineer to lead the underground tech services group at Round Mountain Gold Mine. You will supervise engineers, planners, surveyors, and ventilation engineers, ensuring safe, profitable long-hole stoping designs and schedules.

The role also serves as the primary liaison between operations, geology, and management. The position involves transitioning from exploration development to capital development, building standards, and delivering

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
8–15+ years in underground hard-rock mining with stoping exposure.
Experience with paste backfill and CRF operations.
Leadership or superintendent level experience in technical services.

Responsibilities

Mine Planning & Design: develop and oversee short, mid, long range plans for long hole stoping with backfill.
Technical Leadership & Team Management: mentor engineers, surveyors, and staff; set standards.
Operational Support: provide real time guidance for drilling, blasting, backfilling, and ground support.
Safety, Regulatory, and Environmental Compliance: ensure MSHA and state requirements compliance.
Backfill & Geotechnical Integration: coordinate with geotechnical engineers on stability and sequencing.
Budgeting & Project Management: manage budgets and capital projects for underground
Data Management & Reporting: oversee production reporting and life-of-mine planning updates.
