Cyclaa is building the infrastructure layer for cycling by unifying service, commerce, and community into a single platform. The company offers on-demand mobile mechanics who visit riders wherever they are and provides parts and accessories matched to the specific bike they ride. Cyclaa’s Bike Digital Passport tracks components, service history, and mileage to proactively surface maintenance needs. The company is launching in Brooklyn with a Founding Mechanic program designed to increase earnings and reduce overhead for independent mechanics, with plans to expand to cycling-focused cities across the U.S. and internationally. Cyclaa collaborates closely with mechanics, riders, and builders, and welcomes founding partners who are passionate about reshaping the cycling experience.

Role Description

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Cyclaa is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. The CTO will lead the end-to-end technology vision and execution for Cyclaa’s platform, including the service, commerce, and intelligence layers that power the Bike Digital Passport and mobile mechanic experiences. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing software development teams, defining technical architecture, setting IT and data strategies, and partnering with product, operations, and business leaders to translate user needs into scalable solutions. The CTO will establish engineering best practices, manage technical roadmaps, drive security and reliability standards, and ensure systems can support rapid geographic expansion. This role also involves building and mentoring a high-performing technical organization, selecting technology stacks and tools, and representing Cyclaa’s technology strategy to internal stakeholders, partners, and investors.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead and oversee Software Development and Architecture, including designing scalable systems, APIs, and integrations for a multi-layer platform.
• Experience driving IT Strategy and Project Management, with a track record of aligning technical initiatives to business goals and delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
• Background in Product Development and technical collaboration with product, design, and operations teams to build user-centric, data-informed features.
• Proven leadership in building, mentoring, and retaining diverse technical teams, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
• Hands-on experience with modern web and mobile technologies, cloud infrastructure, security best practices, and data platforms; experience in marketplace or logistics products is a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make informed tradeoffs and explain complex topics clearly.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Interest in cycling, urban mobility, or connected hardware ecosystems is beneficial
