About the company
Our client is a growing software company with a cloud product, a loyal customer base and a clear plan for its next stage of growth. The company is hiring its Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology team through that next stage.
The role
As CTO, you set the technical direction and are accountable for engineering, architecture, cloud infrastructure, data, security and internal IT. You work as a partner to the CEO and the executive team, turn the business plan into a technology plan, and build the team that delivers it.
What you will own
- Technology strategy. Set a multi year technology plan that supports the company's growth goals, and keep the executive team and board informed on progress, risk and tradeoffs.
- Architecture. Shape a platform that is reliable, well documented and ready for more customers. Set clear standards for services, APIs and data so teams can move quickly with confidence.
- Cloud and reliability. Run a cloud platform that stays up, scales with demand and keeps costs in check. Own monitoring, incident response and recovery planning.
- Security and privacy. Protect customer and company data. Lead the security program, meet the standards customers expect, such as SOC 2, and test the response plan on a regular schedule.
- AI and data. Find the places where AI and better data help customers and the business, ship them responsibly, and set rules for accuracy, privacy and safe use.
- Delivery. Help teams ship quality software on a steady, predictable schedule. Track a small set of clear measures and remove what slows teams down, including through modern developer and AI coding tools.
- People and team growth. Recruit and develop strong engineering leaders. Build a culture of ownership and clear communication as the team grows.
- Budget and vendors. Manage the technology budget, cloud spend and vendor contracts, decide what to build in house and what to buy, and tie technology spending to business results.
