Description
The role involves developing vision and strategy for expanding and leading pediatric educational programs, including:
- Ensuring the Department of Pediatrics maintains the highest standards in training medical students, residents, and fellows, and elevating the culture of teaching and learning at Children’s.
- Collaborating with the Department Chair of Pediatrics, Non-DOP Chairs, Pediatric Institute, and Children’s Physician Group Division Chiefs to align academic priorities and educational initiatives.
- Overseeing and supporting the creation of quality programs for medical students, residents, and fellows, and developing new educational programs like fellowships.
- Conducting programmatic reviews and overseeing faculty involved in ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs, as well as LCME-related educational activities.
- Providing oversight for the expansion of non-ACGME programs, assessing new proposals, and ensuring educational standards are met.
- Monitoring evaluation strategies for educational programs and faculty performance, providing feedback and counseling.
- Partnering with Emory University to develop and oversee a comprehensive CME program supporting ongoing professional development.
- Assisting in faculty teaching time allocation, faculty development, and promotion processes.
- Promoting careers of medical educators, supporting external development opportunities, and preparing educational reports for faculty promotion.
- Participating in training medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty, and liaising with external academic partners to integrate new training programs.
- Working with Children’s learning team and establishing philanthropic funding for educational activities.
- Managing educational program budgets and collaborating with administrative leaders to meet training site requirements.
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited institution, with Board Certification in Pediatrics or a subspecialty.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Georgia and credentialing at Children’s.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in Medical Education, Business, Health Administration, Public Health, or PhD.
- At least 5 years of leadership in graduate medical education, including oversight of ACGME programs.
- Proven experience in developing innovative educational programs, faculty development, and mentorship.
- Recognition in medical education, leadership roles, or scholarly publications.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Leadership qualities, vision, enthusiasm, and ability to unify teams.
- Extensive teaching and program management experience, with capacity to engage physicians and clinicians.
- Passion for patient care and service excellence.
- Reputation for excellence in GME and research, especially in complex markets.
- Experience in building academic-clinical partnerships.
Education and Certification: Eligible for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor at Emory University School of Medicine.
