City of Cleveland seeks a Director of Sustainability & Climate Justice to lead the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Climate Justice, aligning a city-wide agenda with the Paris Agreement and equity principles. The role shapes policy, manages programs, and collaborates with departments, communities, and external partners to advance carbon reduction and resilience.

• Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in sustainability and climate action.
• Experience leading projects and teams in sustainability initiatives.
• Extensive knowledge of current issues, laws, and regulations related to environmental sustainability and climate change.
• Ability to engage diverse stakeholders and communities.
• Commitment to environmental justice and equitable implementation of programs.

Responsabilidades

• Routinely updates and executes the City’s sustainability plans (MAP and CAP).
• Builds a culture of engagement on environmental topics with City staff, businesses, and community groups.
• Shapes climate agenda with external stakeholders to ensure participatory decisions.
• Provides leadership to ensure cross-department collaboration and prevent silos in climate actions.
• Leads analysis of contracts and programs to improve sustainability outcomes.
• Develops positions on legislation and advocates for the City’s climate priorities.
• Represents the City on regional, national, and international boards and networks.
• Oversees budgeting and program administration for the Sustainability Office.
