Job summary

The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at UCLA invites applications for the position of Section Chief of Surgical Critical Care. This is a full-time, tenured faculty role at Associate or Full rank within the Regular series, based at UCLA and affiliated hospitals.

The Section Chief will mentor faculty and trainees, lead cutting-edge research in surgical critical care, and advance protocols that improve outcomes for critically ill patients.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Board certification in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
• Eligible for California medical licensure.
• Tenured faculty appointment at Associate or Full level.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and role model in professional development of academic physicians and scientists.
• Lead innovative research in surgical and perioperative critical care.
• Design and implement novel treatment protocols and translational research.
• Oversee ICU staffing and the multidisciplinary fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.
• Foster collaborations to improve care for critically ill surgical patients.
