Large financial firm located in NY seeks a Chief Software Architect to shape the future enterprise software architecture and lead a global team of architects.
Responsibilities
- Shape the future enterprise software architecture to continue meeting the challenges of the years ahead.
- Serve as a technical visionary and strategist, defining a reference architecture that unifies company solutions and supports aggressive growth.
- Report directly to the CTO and EVP of Product Development, leading a focused team of software architects and collaborating with development teams in New York, London, Sydney, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vienna, and Bangalore (including occasional international travel).
- Apply a pragmatic approach to architecture, ensuring technical and commercial viability of reference solutions.
- Document current and future state architectures, set goals, develop strategies, analyze problems, uncover requirements, track roadmaps, and lead build/buy decisions and vendor selection.
- Review and approve analysis, design, and other work performed by others, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
Requirements
- At least eight years of commercial experience defining and delivering enterprise software architectures.
- Strong knowledge of software design and architectural patterns; ability to serve as a subject matter expert for frameworks, methods, and tools.
- Solid software development life‑cycle experience and a proven record of designing and delivering large‑scale applications.
- Experience with OOAD (Object‑Oriented Analysis and Design).
- Sound understanding of distributed systems, virtualization, open‑source and cloud technologies.
- Experience with legacy systems and phased application integration.
- Excellent presentation skills and comfort interacting at board level with both internal and external stakeholders, including Fortune 500 customers.
- Expertise in technical modeling approaches (e.g., UML, E/R diagrams, flowcharting) and the ability to create effective diagrams and design documentation.
- Understanding of availability, redundancy, fault‑tolerance, performance, load balancing, monitoring, diagnostics, and security.
- Strong ability to lead through influence, quickly establishing technical credibility with teams.
- Strong intellectual honesty, a willingness to give and receive constructive criticism, and the ability to respectfully challenge ideas.
- Degree in computer science or a related numerical subject.
Base salary up to $180,000.
