Job summary

Cheyenne Animal Shelter in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Director of Operations to lead daily operations across Animal Care, Reunification, Facilities, Safety and Post‑Adoption Support. You will implement the strategic plan, build a strong leadership team, and champion a culture of consistent, high‑quality care for people and pets.

You will manage a $2 million+ operations budget, partner with government and vendors, and guide safety and facility maintenance for a 21,000‑sq‑ft campus with a 9‑acre

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of management experience with direct supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office & Google Workspace).
  • High level of emotional intelligence and proven ability to navigate conflict and manage a healthy work/life balance.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, and pass background check and drug screen.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field; CAWA certification or pursuit; Lean Six Sigma/Project Management/Organizational Leadership; Fear‑Free shelter philosophies familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee annual shelter budget and capital expenses.
  • Serve as occasional public face of the shelter for media interviews and fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with government animal control entities and vendors.
  • Ensure facilities safety and OSHA-compliance for the campus.
  • Assist with euthanasia certification within 90 days of hire.
