Job summary

Firestorm Labs in San Diego seeks a proactive Director of Security to lead a comprehensive security program for defense operations and government contracts. You will ensure compliance with DoD and federal security requirements, safeguard personnel and Intellectual Property, and manage a team of security professionals across physical, personnel, and cyber domains.

The role partners with leadership to implement scalable security processes, risk mitigation, and crisis response, balancing security

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree required with relevant security field.
• 10+ years of progressive security leadership experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance.
• FSO experience and knowledge of DoD security standards.
• Experience with incident response planning and classified information.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS 252.204-7012, and CMMC.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement enterprise security strategy aligned with defense contracts.
• Advise executive leadership on physical, personnel, and information security.
• Maintain policies and controls for classified and sensitive information.
• Lead security posture improvements across personnel, facilities, and systems.
• Oversee NISPOM, DCSA, and DoD security compliance.
• Manage facility clearance processes and government security audits.
• Oversee cyber and IT security programs for unclassified and controlled networks.
