Job summary

STR is seeking a Chief Scientist to provide direction across the portfolio of sensing and counter-sensing programs, including RF technologies and antenna development. The role drives strategic technical oversight, customer engagements with the DoD/IC, and leadership of multi-site teams across STR’s portfolio.

The successful candidate will lead technical marketing, proposal development, and staff mentoring, with deep expertise in RF systems, electromagnetics, and sensor technologies.

Qualifications

  • Experience with DoD/IC sensor and signal processing tech.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with interest in technical marketing and business development.
  • Proven track record in writing and winning technical proposals.
  • 15+ years in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics.
  • Significant leadership of technical teams on advanced R&D programs.
  • Innovative sensing solutions involving new sensors or algorithms.
  • Strong collaboration and communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Active TS clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Technical marketing to existing and potential customers.
  • Technical proposal development (idea generation, writing, reviewing).
  • Creating innovative sensing/counter-sensing solutions.
  • Leading teams to design, develop, implement, test and analyze solutions for national security.
  • Serving as primary technical point of contact for specific customers and offices.
  • Travel to STR and customer locations.
