AAAS in Washington, DC seeks a Chief Government Affairs Officer to lead the organization’s federal, state, and local advocacy, shaping strategies across Congress, the Administration, and key stakeholders. The CGAO will guide AAAS policy engagement and position the association as a trusted voice for science and innovation.

Reporting to the COO, the CGAO will build a high-impact government affairs team, drive strategic priorities, coordinate with Communications and R&D policy units, and

Formación

• 15+ years of government affairs experience, including senior leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of federal policymaking and the Washington, DC environment.
• Proven ability to explain complex policy to non-technical audiences.
• Experience building relationships with senior policymakers and officials.

Responsabilidades

• Lead integrated government affairs and advocacy strategy across federal, state, and local levels.
• Manage and mentor a government affairs team and coordinate with COO/CEO on priorities.
• Oversee engagement with Congress, the Administration, and federal agencies.
