Job summary

Nevell Group (NGi) in Brea, CA is seeking an experienced Director of Safety to lead NGi's company-wide safety program across projects and locations. You will direct the Safety Department, establish strategy, and ensure NGi maintains the highest standards of workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Reporting to the Risk Manager, the role emphasizes frontline leadership, safety training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Risk Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive construction safety experience at a leadership level.
• OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications required.
• CSP or CHST certification strongly preferred.
• Experience managing safety programs across multiple projects and locations.
• Experience with workers’ compensation claims, investigations, and regulatory inspections.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the Safety Department and set company-wide safety goals and programs.
• Develop benchmarks, procedures, and protocols to promote a strong safety culture.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing safety team and act as safety SME.
• Ensure field sites comply with Federal OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and DIR requirements.
• Develop and manage safety training programs covering OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Oversee JHAs, pre-task planning, safety plans, and Codes of Safe Practices.
• Coordinate safety staffing, documentation, and budgeting for each project.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action planning; report to Risk Management.
