Job summary

Island Conservation seeks a Chief Program Officer to lead global program delivery, integration, and performance. Reporting to the CEO, the CPO will guide senior leaders across multiple regions and functions, ensuring priorities are clear and resources are focused on the highest-impact conservation opportunities.

This role also supports fundraising, Board engagement, and strategic partnerships, aligning programmatic work with organizational goals and measurable outcomes at a global scale.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in conservation or nonprofit sectors.
• Ability to translate strategy into priorities, plans, accountability, and measurable results.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
• Experience overseeing complex program portfolios, with budgeting and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Senior Directors across programmatic functions with clear priorities and accountability.
• Translate organizational strategy into quarterly and annual program priorities with owners and deliverables.
• Establish simple systems to track progress, risks, and results across the portfolio.
• Oversee resource allocation and financial performance across the program portfolio.
• Engage with external partners, boards, and funders to align priorities and secure support.
• Coach and support leadership development, ensuring performance reviews and succession planning.
