Job summary

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking an experienced Chief Program Officer to provide strategic and operational leadership across its diverse network of services on Long Island. The role reports to the CEO and drives ministry excellence, Catholic identity, and financial sustainability.

The CPO will lead senior program staff across Addiction Treatment, Senior Services, Maternity & Nutrition, Mental Health, Residential Services, Parish Social Ministry, and CARES, while traveling to CCLI

Qualifications

• Master's degree in business, human services, or related field.
• Over 10 years of nonprofit operations and program management experience.
• At least 5 years of clinical experience in health or human services.
• 3+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• Experience with grants, fundraising, and financial management.
• Strong understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
• Practicing Roman Catholic committed to the mission.
• Travel frequently to multiple CCLI locations throughout Long Island.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of ministry operations and senior program staff across Addiction Treatment, Senior Services, Maternity & Nutrition, Mental Health, Residential Services, Parish Social Ministry, and CARES.
• Ensure Catholic identity, Gospel values, and Catholic Social Teaching are integrated throughout ministry operations.
• Partner with the CEO and Executive Team on strategy, organizational priorities, and Board communications.
• Develop innovative approaches to service delivery and identify opportunities for program growth.
• Strengthen relationships with diocesan leadership, government agencies, funders, clergy, parishes, and community partners.
• Support grant development, fundraising, donor engagement and financial sustainability.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor ministry leaders and build a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Lead organizational responses to emergencies and other significant operational challenges.
• Represent Catholic Charities with internal and external audiences, as directed by the CEO.
