Job summary

Catholic Charities of Long Island (CCLI) is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Chief Program Officer to provide strategic and operational leadership across its diverse network of human services.

Reporting to the CEO, the CPO will be a visible member of the executive team, ensuring programs are operationally strong, financially sustainable, and aligned with Catholic teachings. Travel across Long Island is required.

Qualifications

• Strategic, collaborative nonprofit executive with strong operational and financial acumen.
• Exceptional communication skills and sound judgment.
• Experience in grants, fundraising, and financial management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of ministry operations and senior program staff across Addiction Treatment, Senior Services, Maternity & Nutrition, Mental Health, Residential Services, Parish Social Ministry, and CARES.
• Ensure Catholic identity, Gospel values, and Catholic Social Teaching are integrated throughout ministry operations.
• Partner with the CEO and Executive Team on strategy, priorities, and Board communications.
• Develop innovative approaches to service delivery and identify opportunities for program growth.
• Strengthen relationships with diocesan leadership, government agencies, funders, clergy, parishes, and community partners.
• Support grant development, fundraising, donor engagement and financial sustainability.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor ministry leaders and build a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Lead organizational responses to emergencies and other significant operational challenges.
• Represent Catholic Charities with internal and external audiences, as directed by the CEO.
