7-Eleven in Irving, TX seeks a Chief Privacy Officer to lead enterprise privacy, data protection, cybersecurity alignment, and records retention within a growing AI governance program.
The Senior Director-level role partners with Legal, Compliance, IT, and Digital teams to design a Privacy by Design framework, monitor global regulations, and drive vendor risk management while enabling responsible innovation at scale.
Behind every transaction, every loyalty reward, and every digital interaction at 7-Eleven lies a growing need for trust — and that's where the Chief Privacy Officer role at 7-Eleven in Irving, TX comes into focus. Reporting to the VP, Associate General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, this Senior Director-level leader serves as the enterprise voice for privacy, data protection, cybersecurity alignment, records retention, and — increasingly critical — the privacy and data-protection lead within 7-Eleven's enterprise AI governance program. With over 86,000 locations worldwide, data stewardship here is not just a legal obligation but a competitive advantage.
The CPO will build and mature an enterprise-wide privacy framework that spans policy development, regulatory monitoring, cross-functional governance committees, and Privacy by Design integration. Key responsibilities include:
One of the most distinctive aspects of this position is the explicit mandate to serve as the privacy and data-protection lead within 7-Eleven's enterprise AI governance program. As the company continues to leverage customer data, predictive analytics, and emerging AI technologies, the CPO will advise business and technology leaders on AI risk, privacy implications of automated systems, and responsible innovation practices that support growth without compromising trust.
The ideal candidate brings at least a decade of experience spanning privacy, data protection, compliance, cybersecurity, or technology law — with demonstrated enterprise leadership responsibility. Deep fluency in U.S. and international privacy frameworks is essential, as is hands-on experience developing AI governance programs and assessing the legal, ethical, operational, and reputational dimensions of emerging technologies.
Strong stakeholder influence skills round out the profile. This leader will co-chair cross-functional committees, partner with Legal, Procurement, Information Security, and Digital teams, and serve as a primary advisor to executive leadership. Professional certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional credential are highly valued.
Applicants should anchor their preparation in retail-specific privacy challenges — customer loyalty data, payment card handling, geolocation tracking, and scale-driven consent management — rather than generic compliance talking points. Highlighting experience building privacy programs in high-velocity, consumer-facing environments will differentiate candidates. Monitoring IAPP publications and AI governance frameworks will keep application narratives current. Given the role's intersection with cybersecurity and AI, demonstrating fluency across those domains strengthens credibility.
For those ready to shape how one of the planet's most visible convenience brands approaches data trust, the application window remains open through December 16, 2026.
