Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, seeks a VP Chief Operating Officer to lead operations, financial performance, and strategic execution across the Culpeper facility and UVA Community Health functions.

You will partner with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality, patient experience, and operational excellence in a complex, matrixed environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business/Healthcare Administration or related field; master's preferred.
• Five years of progressive healthcare leadership with responsibility for complex operations, financial performance, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to lead through formal authority and influence in a complex healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership for the effective and efficient operation of the assigned medical center, including financial and operational performance.
• Translates organizational strategy into operational priorities and holds leaders accountable for execution and results.
• Drives facility and service-line growth, access, operational efficiency, and performance.
• Partners in dyad leadership with the entity ACNO to ensure alignment of clinical and operational priorities and effective workflows across services.
• Provides UVA Community Health-wide leadership for assigned departments or functions, establishing consistent expectations and optimizing resources across facilities.
• Evaluates performance within assigned system functions and leads improvement efforts related to financial, operational, workforce, service, and other priorities.
• Collaborates with fellow COOs, physicians, and leaders to address cross-facility issues.
• Maintains relationships with medical staff, nursing, team members, and stakeholders to support high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Demonstrates strong financial stewardship including oversight of budgets, productivity, and ROI.
• Represents the organization with governing bodies and community leaders to support priorities.
• Develops leaders, builds teams, and promotes accountability and continuous improvement.
