Job summary

The UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center is seeking a strategic, results-driven VP Chief Operating Officer to lead operational excellence across the center and UVA Community Health functions.

You will oversee financial performance, drive growth, standardize processes, and partner with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality, patient experience, and team development. Five years of leadership and a Bachelor's plus preferred Master’s are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business/Healthcare Administration or related field; master's degree preferred.
• Five years of progressive healthcare leadership experience with responsibility for complex operations.
• Experience leading across multiple facilities, service lines, or matrixed structures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership for the effective and efficient operation of the assigned medical center and financial performance.
• Translates organizational strategy into operational priorities and holds leaders accountable for execution and results.
• Drives facility and service-line growth, access, operational efficiency, and performance.
• Partners in dyad leadership with the entity ACNO to align clinical and operational priorities across services.
• Provides UVA Health-wide leadership for assigned departments, establishing standardization and optimizing resources.
• Evaluates performance and leads improvement efforts related to financial, operational, workforce and other priorities.
• Collaborates with COOs, physicians, and leaders to address cross-facility issues.
• Maintains relationships with medical staff and stakeholders to support high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Demonstrates strong financial stewardship with budgeting, productivity, and ROI oversight.
• Acts as an executive leader in quality, safety, patient experience, and team engagement.
• Develops leaders, builds teams, and promotes accountability and continuous improvement.
• Represents UVA Health with governing bodies and external stakeholders.
