Job summary

Oklahoma State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES). This 12-month role reports to the Vice President, Dean and Director of DASNR and oversees a statewide, regional and national program network.

The ideal candidate will lead long-range planning, program development, and revenue growth while aligning Extension with state priorities and land-grant mission across Oklahoma.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in a discipline related to the Cooperative Extension Service preferred; exceptions may be made for exceptional leadership and administrative experience.
  • Experience leading a complex organization with multiple layers of direct reports.
  • Understanding of non-formal youth and adult education and program development processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage personnel and budgets.
  • Understanding of Oklahoma agriculture, families, youth and communities; capable of visionary leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead long-range program planning, implementation and reporting for the OCES system.
  • Work with the DASNR leadership to administer programs, personnel, and fiscal affairs.
  • Provide leadership to increase revenue from county, state, federal, and private sources.
  • Engage with county and state leaders and legislators to enhance extension programming.
  • Coordinate with multiple colleges and extension leads to achieve effective coordination of Extension programs.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of OCES administrative issues.
  • Engage with regional and national organizations to position OCES for funding opportunities.
