Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of progressive senior management experience in youth development, education, or human services organization (BGCG experience strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education, social services, nonprofit management, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading programs and teams in complex, mission-driven environments
  • Demonstrated team leadership, coaching, and staff development experience
  • Experience using data and evaluation to improve programs and outcomes
  • Knowledge of youth development best practices, facilities management, and safety standards for youth-serving organizations
  • Familiarity with BGCA standards, resources, and reporting requirements preferred
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership services
  • Background in trauma-informed care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all programmatic and operational functions, ensuring safe, high-quality, mission-driven services.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop, implement, and monitor BGCG’s strategic plan.
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish organizational goals, KPIs, and dashboards to measure program quality, operational effectiveness, member outcomes, and strategic progress.
  • Direct the design and delivery of all youth development programs — after-school, teen, workforce development, and family engagement.
  • Ensure programs meet BGCA standards and best practices in youth development, academic success, and SEL, with safety embedded in every program area.
  • Lead membership outreach efforts to grow enrollment and expand BGCG’s reach into underserved parts of the community.
  • Strengthen teen-focused programming to boost engagement, belonging, and retention.
  • Use data, member feedback, and evaluation to track program efficacy and set measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee facility operations to ensure safe, welcoming, and efficient environments for members and staff.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, supervision, professional development, and retention of staff.
  • Implement performance management systems that promote accountability and learning.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and youth-centered culture aligned with BGCG’s mission and values.
  • Develop and manage program and operational budgets in partnership with the finance team.
  • Monitor financial performance, staffing, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Support organizational sustainability through thoughtful planning and stewardship.
  • Ensure compliance with BGCA standards, reporting requirements, and the NDYSO model.
  • Leverage BGCA resources to strengthen performance and program quality.
  • Represent BGCG within BGCA network and participate in learning opportunities.

OPPORTUNITY:

The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead the day-to-day operations that bring our mission to life for thousands of young people every year. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO will translate our strategic vision into high-quality youth programs, welcoming Club spaces, and operational systems that work. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will oversee program delivery and impact, staffing, and organizational systems, ensuring every member has access to a safe, consistent, and enriching out-of-school experience. This is a rare opportunity to shape the operational backbone of an organization with deep community roots and real, measurable impact on the lives of local youth and teens.

We’re looking for a hands-on leader who combines a genuine passion for youth development with sharp operational instincts. You’ll build and mentor strong program teams, strengthen processes, and use data to drive continuous improvement, and cultivate meaningful partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations. For over 100 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) has offered Greenwich kids a safe place to learn and grow. Every day over 350 kids come to BGCG after school. Programs focus on academic enrichment, healthy lifestyles, and character development. The organization also runs summer programs at Camp Simmons and the Rebecca S. Breed Clubhouse. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Leadership & Strategy

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

This position is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The salary range is $130,000-$150,000. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive benefits package.
