Role Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a full-time role for our Davidson, NC based software company. This hands-on executive is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and driving operational excellence across the organization. This role leads cross-functional teams, establishes performance metrics, and ensures that operational processes support the company’s strategic goals and client commitments. The COO collaborates with executive leadership on business planning, resource allocation, and growth initiatives, while maintaining strong alignment between operations, finance, and customer-facing functions. Daily responsibilities include optimizing workflows, managing budgets, analyzing operational data, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability. The COO also fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and represents operations in key internal and external stakeholder discussions.

Qualifications

• Strong business planning and strategic leadership skills, including experience developing and executing long-term operational plans.
• Proven operations management expertise, with a track record of improving processes, scaling teams, and managing complex, data-driven environments.
• Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to optimize performance.
• Solid finance and budgeting capabilities, including experience with forecasting, cost control, and aligning financial resources with strategic priorities.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior operational role, preferably within technology, engineering, or related industries.

• Experience managing on-site teams and building a high-performance, inclusive workplace culture.
• Experience in the Water industry or related industry (e.g. Facilities, Chemical, HVAC, Commercial Construction etc)
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is beneficial.
