Worth Credit Union is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the operating and technology engine of a $1.3 billion credit union entering its next stage of growth. The COO brings operations, payments, technology, core and digital platforms, and vendor and fintech delivery under one accountable executive, and reports to the President and CEO as a member of the executive leadership team.
The mandate is twofold: run the credit union reliably today, and build the platforms, controls, partnerships, and capacity that growth will require. This is an enterprise leadership role, not a run-the-bank administrator or a narrow technologist. The COO sets operating strategy, leads major platform change, and partners with executive peers on business planning, financial performance, risk management, and long-term growth.
Success means member-focused execution, efficient fulfillment, disciplined technology investment, strong third-party performance, and platform change that lands without losing control of the business. Just as important, the COO will build and develop a leadership team across operations and technology and set the standard for a high-performing, member-first culture.
What You’ll Own
- Operations and fulfillment: loan processing, closing, funding, and servicing; deposit operations and payments; and member service across branches, contact center, and collections, run against clear service, quality, cost, and control metrics.
- Technology and platforms: the technology operating model across infrastructure, core and digital platforms, and production support, with executive ownership of major platform change.
- Vendor and fintech partnerships: selection, contracting, integration, and performance management, with a partner-before-build mindset and repeatable onboarding.
- Member experience: partner with growth and lending leaders to turn member insight into digital and service experiences the organization can reliably deliver.
- Controls and regulatory readiness: first-line ownership of operational and information-security controls, examination readiness, and cyber incident response, working closely with independent risk and compliance.
- Automation and AI: redesign processes first, then apply automation and AI where they deliver measured gains in productivity, service, and cost.
- Investment discipline: build business cases with Finance, prioritize investments against capacity and regulatory commitments, and redirect work that isn’t delivering.
- Leadership: build and develop a leadership team across operations and technology, escal risks early, and give the executive team a clear view of execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent executive experience
- 15 or more years of progressive leadership, including 7 or more years at the VP level or above in a bank, credit union, or other regulated financial institution
- Executive leadership of operations or technology, with meaningful hands-on exposure to the other
- Led a core conversion or major platform migration from planning through go-live and stabilization
- Track record of improving processes, service delivery, and cost to serve across loan, deposit, payments, and member service operations
- Managed a significant vendor and fintech portfolio, including contracts, service levels, and performance
- Strong command of regulatory, information-security, and third-party risk expectations, including cyber incident response and notification
- Built operating controls for loan funding, payments, and collections, including clear separation between credit approval and funding
- Has guided technology or operations examinations through to closed findings
- Business planning and financial discipline; built budgets and business cases across capital and operating spend, and prioritized investments against the organization’s capacity for change
- Analytical leader who uses performance data to spot risk, make decisions, and hold teams accountable
- Has developed leadership teams and led change through people, not just plans
- Communicates clearly with executive peers, employees, and the Board, and works effectively across departments
Preferred
- MBA, other advanced degree, or graduate school of banking
- Merger or acquisition integration experience
- Has taken AI or automation from pilot to measured results
