Job description

Employment: Full-time

Main requirement: National Security knowledge

About the Role

A fast-growing space technology company is hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with its co-founder and CEO during a critical stage of growth.

This is not an executive-assistant position or a role focused solely on developing strategy. It is a hands-on operating role for someone who can turn the CEO’s priorities into action, align teams, remove blockers and ensure important work gets completed.

You’ll work across Growth, Product, Engineering, Programs and Operations while supporting initiatives involving government customers, commercial partners, investors and the Board.

The Chief of Staff assignment is expected to last 12–24 months, with the opportunity to transition into a key leadership role within Government Growth, Operations, Product or another area aligned with your strengths and the company’s needs.

Future founders are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do
  • Translate CEO priorities into clear actions, owners, deadlines and outcomes
  • Drive execution across high-priority, cross-functional initiatives
  • Prepare for leadership meetings and ensure decisions and action items receive follow-through
  • Keep critical projects moving while the CEO focuses on customers, fundraising and company growth
  • Identify blockers and determine when CEO involvement is required
  • Coordinate across Growth, Product, Engineering, Programs and Operations
  • Support alignment between commercial and government growth efforts
  • Connect company priorities with relevant government programs and budgets
  • Take ownership of urgent or ambiguous projects without a natural owner
  • Prepare Board presentations, executive briefings, decision materials and company communications
  • Gather and synthesize financial, operational, sales and company-performance information
  • Support fundraising, strategic partnerships, executive hiring and critical customer situations
  • Build processes that help the company operate effectively as it scales
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working in a startup, founder-led company or genuinely high-growth environment
  • Demonstrated success taking ambiguous problems from idea through execution
  • Strong understanding of business operations and how different functions contribute to company growth
  • Ability to work effectively across technical, commercial and operational teams
  • High ownership, urgency and a strong bias toward action
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong judgment and the ability to work independently with senior executives
  • Ability to influence and create accountability without formal authority
  • Comfort operating through rapid change and evolving priorities
  • High-level understanding of U.S. government programs or business processes—or clear initiative and ability to learn them quickly
  • Genuine interest in becoming a future founder or functional leader
  • A compelling reason for wanting to join an early-stage space company and work closely with its CEO
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a founder, Chief of Staff, startup operator or early-stage employee
  • Strategy and Operations or Business Operations experience
  • Aerospace, defense, national-security or government-market exposure
  • Government sales, business development, budgeting or program experience
  • Experience preparing Board, fundraising or investor materials
  • Comfort working with financial and operating metrics
  • Experience in both a larger organization and a scaling startup
  • MBA or equivalent business experience
  • Current or previous U.S. security clearance
Why Join?
  • Work directly with a founder and CEO on the company’s highest-priority initiatives
  • Gain exposure across growth, operations, product, fundraising and national security
  • Take ownership of meaningful work rather than being limited to one function
  • Join a growing team where individual contributions have a visible impact
  • Develop toward a future functional leadership position or your own company
  • Work on technology supporting real commercial and government space missions
Who Will Thrive Here?

You are a builder and executor who does not wait for a perfect playbook. You can take an unclear problem, create structure, bring the right people together and drive it through completion.

  • You are energized by rapid growth, broad responsibility and direct exposure to company-building. Most importantly, you want this role because of what you can build, learn and eventually lead—not simply because the title matches your résumé.
