The Center for Education Reform in Washington, DC seeks a Director of External Affairs & Chief of Staff to join its senior leadership, blending policy, external relations, and organizational execution. The role reports to the CEO and advances CER's mission.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, occasional travel, and a compensation range of $175,000–$185,000 with benefits, reflecting senior leadership responsibilities in education policy and reform.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of relevant experience in education policy, government, nonprofit advocacy, or related senior roles.
• Experience leading external affairs, policy initiatives, and cross-functional programs.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee the CEO’s work with external partners on policy, innovation, opportunity, and reform.
• Coordinate CER’s policy initiatives across state and federal levels.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and developments impacting CER’s focus areas for leadership to act on.
• Lead the development of CER’s Parent Power Index and related research with accuracy and timely execution.
• Serve as a key link between the CEO, senior leadership, staff, partners, policymakers, and stakeholders.
• Ensure leadership receives timely information, materials, and support as needed.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives with clear responsibilities and deadlines.
• Liaise with Yass Prize alumni and program leadership on developments and opportunities.
• Organize CER’s participation in conferences, meetings, and external engagements.
• Collaborate with communications to provide policy content and background for external messaging.
• Translate CEO priorities into coordinated organizational action and follow through.
