Morpheus Talent Solutions in San Francisco seeks a Chief of Staff and founding hire to partner with the Founder/CEO. This role shadows the CEO, then leads cross-functional initiatives as the company scales, with ownership expanding over time.

You’ll work across meetings, fundraising, operations, and strategic projects, building a strong foundation for the company’s growth in the AI data startup space.

Chief of Staff | Founding Hire, AI Data Startup

Salary: $200k - $300k base, depending on experience

Full-time

Morpheus are partnered with a fast-growing, venture-backed startup that helps companies de-identify sensitive and proprietary datasets so they can license them to AI labs. Unlike traditional PII redaction, which can break the links between records, their approach preserves relationships across files and databases so the data stays useful for model training. Their customers are mostly data vendors, RL environment builders and human data companies selling into frontier labs. They are a small team, growing fast enough that their next funding round is likely to come sooner than planned.

The role

This is the company's first Chief of Staff and a top priority hire. Growth has outpaced the team, and the Founder and CEO needs a strategic partner to take load off them and help build the company.

You will start by shadowing the CEO across key meetings, customer conversations and fundraising, then take ownership of more areas as the company scales. The scope is broad on purpose: it grows with you.

What you’ll do

• Act as the CEO’s right hand: prepare for and join key customer, partner and investor meetings, and drive follow-ups to completion
• Support fundraising, including next round preparation, investor materials, data room and pipeline
• Run business operations: planning, internal cadence, metrics and systems
• Own cross-functional projects end to end, from scoping to delivery
• Challenge ideas and contribute to company strategy, not just execute it
• Build working knowledge of the data vendor, RL environment and frontier lab ecosystem
• Progressively take ownership of functions, with room to build and lead teams

What you bring

• A scrappy, high-output operator mindset, comfortable pushing back and thinking strategically
• A background such as a Strategic Project Lead in human data looking for broader ownership, a technical startup operator with consulting experience, or a former founder or early-stage operator
• Enough technical fluency to understand how AI training data is built, licensed and used
• Familiarity with the human data and RL ecosystem and how vendors sell into frontier labs
• Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to juggle many priorities
