Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) seeks a strategic leader to guide the Safety & Outdoor Education Division, aligning programs with the agency's mission and board goals. You will drive long-term plans, oversee staff, safety operations, and budgets while partnering with community partners to deliver high-quality outdoor education and public safety initiatives.

This role requires executive presence, strong collaboration, and a proven track record in public service leadership.

Qualifications

Leadership competencies include People Management, Operations Management and Strategic Leadership.
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice is required; Master’s in Public Administration preferred.
Experience in public service, park and recreation or related field is essential.
Substitutions of education for experience may apply as needed.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and vision for the Safety & Outdoor Education Division.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff; manage budgets and operations.
Ensure safety standards, compliance, and quality programming for outdoor education.
Collaborate with municipal law enforcement and county agencies to ensure high-level service.
Present information to the JCPRD Board and advise on division goals.
