Job summary

City of Wynnewood is seeking a Police Chief to oversee daily law enforcement operations, manage budgets and implement policy across patrol, investigations and specialized units. The role requires leadership in public safety and community engagement.

The Chief will serve as a public spokesperson, coordinate with city officials, and drive crime prevention strategies while ensuring compliance with state regulations and council directives.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
• Certified as a peace officer in OK or meet requirements for CLEET certification within 6 months.
• Must complete police chief admin training meeting minimal CLEET criteria within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct operations across patrol, investigations, and specialized units.
• Manage budgets, resources, and equipment.
• Set policy, general orders, and officer conduct guidelines.
• Supervise personnel: training, evaluations, promotions, and discipline.
• Act as spokesperson for major incidents and community events.
• Build partnerships with local leaders, schools, businesses, and civic groups.
• Report department performance to city officials.
